Elpaal
Elpaal is a Benjamite of the line of Shaharaim, born to him by his wife Hushim and remembered as the head of a numerous house whose sons built towns in the Shephelah.
A Son of Shaharaim by Hushim
In the Benjamite genealogy of 1 Chronicles 8, Elpaal's birth is paired with that of his brother Abitub: "And of Hushim he begot Abitub and Elpaal" (1Ch 8:11). His own offspring follow immediately, including the builders of Ono and Lod: "And the sons of Elpaal: Eber, and Misham, and Shemed, who built Ono and Lod, with its towns;" (1Ch 8:12).
The Wider House of Elpaal
A second listing in the same chapter rounds out Elpaal's house with further sons: "and Ishmerai, and Izliah, and Jobab, the sons of Elpaal," (1Ch 8:18). The combined notices place Elpaal at the head of a substantial Benjamite clan.
