Elzabad
Two men in the Chronicler's records bear the name Elzabad — a Gadite warrior who joined David, and a Korhite gatekeeper at the temple.
The Gadite warrior
In the list of mighty men from Gad who came to David at the stronghold, Elzabad ranks ninth: "Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth" (1 Chronicles 12:12). The wider passage describes the company as fierce-faced fighters armed with shield and spear.
The Korhite gatekeeper
A second Elzabad appears among the temple gatekeepers, a son of Shemaiah descended from Korah: "The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, and Rephael, and Obed, Elzabad, whose brothers were valiant men, Elihu, and Semachiah" (1 Chronicles 26:7). The text marks his brothers as men of valor and reckons the family's service to the sanctuary doors.
