En-gannim
The name En-gannim ("spring of gardens") is borne by two distinct towns, one in the tribal allotment of Judah and another in the territory of Issachar. The Issachar town was set apart for the Levites.
A Town in Judah
In Judah's lowland list, En-gannim stands among the towns of the Shephelah: "and Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam," (Jos 15:34).
A Town of Issachar Given to the Levites
A second En-gannim falls within the inheritance of Issachar, written here in the unhyphenated form: "and Remeth, and Engannim, and En-haddah, and Beth-pazzez," (Jos 19:21). When the Levites receive their pasture-cities from Issachar's allotment, En-gannim is among the four assigned: "Jarmuth with its suburbs, En-gannim with its suburbs; four cities" (Jos 21:29).
