En-haddah

Places · Updated 2026-05-07

En-haddah is one of the cities listed in the tribal allotment of Issachar. It appears only once in scripture, as part of the boundary roll-call when the fourth lot of the land falls to that tribe.

A City in the Allotment of Issachar

When the lot for Issachar comes out, the boundary moves through Jezreel, Chesulloth, and Shunem, then Hapharaim, Shion, and Anaharath, then Rabbith, Kishion, and Ebez, and the list reaches: "and Remeth, and Engannim, and En-haddah, and Beth-pazzez" (Josh 19:21). The full list closes at sixteen cities with their villages, the inheritance of "the tribe of the sons of Issachar according to their families" (Josh 19:23). En-haddah is one of those sixteen — a settlement attached to the territory by name and grouped with neighboring towns whose collective boundary reached "to Tabor, and Shahazumah, and Beth-shemesh" with its outlet "at the Jordan" (Josh 19:22).
