Eshton
Eshton is a name preserved in the Judahite genealogies of 1 Chronicles, appearing only in two verses that span a single father-son notice. He stands in the line of Chelub, set among the families known as "the men of Recah."
Place in the Judahite Line
Chelub the brother of Shuhah begot Mehir, "who was the father of Eshton" (1 Ch 4:11). Eshton is therefore Mehir's son and Chelub's grandson, slotted into the wider Judahite roll that 1 Chronicles 4 traces.
His Sons and the Men of Recah
The next verse extends the line through Eshton himself: "And Eshton begot Beth-rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir-nahash. These are the men of Recah" (1 Ch 4:12). Three sons are named — Beth-rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah — with Tehinnah further identified as the father of Ir-nahash. The closing tag, "These are the men of Recah," gathers Eshton's house under that local designation.
