Extermination

Extermination, in scripture, names the Old Testament warfare in which the inhabitants of certain Canaanite peoples were placed under devotion to destruction at God's command — the herem campaigns that sit at the most difficult edge of the conquest narratives. The category gathers the texts where Israel is charged to leave nothing alive of a particular nation as part of the judgment Yahweh brings through them.
