Fortune telling is divination — the attempt to read hidden things or future events through omens, spirits, astrology, or similar means — which scripture forbids and ranks among the works of the flesh, exposed in figures such as Balaam, Simon the Sorcerer, Elymas, and the slave girl at Philippi.
