Gebim

Places · Updated 2026-05-07

Gebim is a town of Benjamin named once in the Hebrew scriptures, swept up in Isaiah's vision of an Assyrian advance on Jerusalem.

A Town in Flight Before Assyria

The prophet pictures the line of Benjamite settlements emptying as the invader nears the capital: "Madmenah is a fugitive; the inhabitants of Gebim flee for safety" (Isa 10:31). The verse pairs Gebim with Madmenah in a single moving frame — neighboring villages whose people abandon their homes ahead of the approaching army. The town's only role in the prophetic narrative is to mark the path of terror as the threat closes on Zion.
