Gibea
Gibea appears once, in the Calebite portion of the Judahite genealogies.
A Descendant of Judah
The genealogy of Caleb traces the founders of several Judahite towns through Maacah his concubine: "She bore also Shaaph the father of Madmannah, Sheva the father of Machbena, and the father of Gibea; and the daughter of Caleb was Achsah" (1 Chr 2:49). Gibea is named here in the formula "father of Gibea" — the eponymous progenitor of a settlement attached, like Madmannah and Machbena alongside it, to the Calebite line in Judah.
