Hamath-zobah
Hamath-zobah is a town on the northern frontier of the land, named once for Solomon's campaign against it.
Subdued by Solomon
After the temple and the royal house are finished, the chronicler turns to Solomon's building and military projects in the outlying territory. The capture of Hamath-zobah is reported in a single sentence: "And Solomon went to Hamath-zobah, and prevailed against it" (2Ch 8:3). The compound name attaches the town to the region of Hamath in the north and to the Aramean kingdom of Zobah, marking it as a frontier strongpoint along the boundary of Solomon's reach. The text gives no detail of the engagement; only that Solomon went and prevailed.
