Hariph

The name Hariph appears in the post-exilic registers as both a clan name among the returnees and as one of the leaders who sealed the covenant under Nehemiah.

The Sons of Hariph

The clan of Hariph is counted among the families that returned from Babylon: "The sons of Hariph, a hundred and twelve" (Neh 7:24). The parallel register in Ezra preserves the same total under the name Jorah: "The sons of Jorah, a hundred and twelve" (Ezra 2:18).

Hariph Among Those Who Sealed the Covenant

When the leaders of the people put their seal to Nehemiah's covenant, Hariph is listed among them: "Hariph, Anathoth, Nobai," (Neh 10:19).
