Harod
Harod is a spring in northern Israel, named once as the encampment site of Gideon's army on the eve of the battle against Midian.
Gideon's Encampment
Before the night attack on the Midianite host, Gideon and his men drew up beside the spring while the enemy lay across the valley to the north: "Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people who were with him, rose up early, and encamped beside the spring of Harod: and the camp of Midian was on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley" (Judg 7:1). The location anchors the topography of the battle that followed, with Harod's water serving as the staging point from which Gideon's three hundred were chosen.
