Hashubah

People · Updated 2026-05-07

Hashubah is a name preserved in the post-exilic Davidic genealogy of 1 Chronicles. He appears in the line that runs through Jeconiah down through Zerubbabel and is listed among the descendants associated with the royal house of Judah after the exile.

A Descendant in the Davidic Line

The single mention places Hashubah in a sibling cluster within the broader genealogy of David's descendants:

"and Hashubah, and Ohel, and Berechiah, and Hasadiah, Jushab-hesed, five" (1Ch 3:20).

The verse closes the count with "five," fixing the size of the group and locating Hashubah firmly inside the chronicler's roll of the royal seed carried forward from the captivity. Nothing else is recorded of him; the name survives as a witness that the Davidic line continued to be tracked and named generation by generation.
