Hatipha
Hatipha is the ancestor of one of the temple-servant families whose descendants are recorded in the return from exile. The name appears only at the close of the parallel registers of temple servants in Ezra 2 and Nehemiah 7.
A temple-servant family among the returning exiles
The Ezra register ends the long roster of Nethinim — the families "given [to temple service]" — with two short clauses: "the sons of Neziah, the sons of Hatipha." (Ezr 2:54). The Nehemiah parallel preserves the same closing pair: "the sons of Neziah, the sons of Hatipha." (Ne 7:56). Hatipha's family thus stands at the tail of the count of hereditary attendants attached to the rebuilt sanctuary in Jerusalem.
