Hazarmaveth

Hazarmaveth is one of the sons of Joktan in the Table of Nations and is repeated in the same position in the Chronicler's opening genealogy.

A son of Joktan

The Genesis register names Joktan's first four sons in a single line: "And Joktan begot Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah," (Ge 10:26). The Chronicler reproduces the line word for word: "And Joktan begot Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah," (1Ch 1:20). Hazarmaveth thus stands third in Joktan's line in both the primaeval and post-exilic genealogical summaries, with no narrative attached to the name in either context.
