Hazelelponi

Hazelelponi (UPDV: Hazzelelponi) is the only daughter named in the Etam clan-list of 1 Chronicles 4. Three brothers are listed first, and she follows them as the named sister in the same paragraph. The name is preserved nowhere else in the text.

Daughter of Etam

The chronicler holds her in a single tight clause that sets her among her brothers:

"And these were the father of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi" (1Ch 4:3).

A footnote on this verse explains that "the father of Etam" carries a plural meaning, comparable to the construction in 4:19 and 8:29, and may be read as "the founders of Etam." Hazzelelponi belongs to that founding group: she is the sister of Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash and so stands inside the originating family of Etam.
