Haziel
Haziel is a Levite named in the rolls of 1 Chronicles 23, the chapter that organizes the Levitical houses for service in David's reorganization of the worship at Jerusalem. He appears as one of three brothers heading the ancestral households of Ladan.
A Levite
The verse fixes him among the leading sons of Shimei in the Gershonite division:
"The sons of Shimei: Shelomoth, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the heads of the fathers' [houses] of Ladan" (1Ch 23:9).
The notation "three" closes the count, and the bracketed insertion clarifies the construction as referring to the heads of the ancestral houses. Haziel's place is therefore administrative: he stands at the top of one of the family lines that organize Levitical service under Ladan.
