Heresh
Heresh is named once, among the Levites enumerated in the post-exilic settlement list of 1 Chronicles 9. The notice gives only his place in the roster, with no narrative or genealogy attached.
A Levite of the Restored Community
The single mention sets him in a chain of Levites returning to Jerusalem: "and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph," (1Ch 9:15). Heresh stands second of the four names listed, between Bakbakkar and Galal, and just before Mattaniah, whose own genealogy is traced back through Mica and Zichri to Asaph. The cluster reflects the Asaphite line of Levites assigned to Jerusalem after the captivity, though Heresh himself is given no further pedigree.
