Hiddai
Hiddai is one of David's mighty men, identified by the wadis of his home country south of Mount Ephraim. The Chronicler preserves the same warrior under the variant name Hurai.
One of David's Heroes
The Samuel roll of David's thirty places him beside another local fighter: "Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash" (2 Sam 23:30). The locator — "of the brooks of Gaash" — anchors him to the watercourses near Mount Gaash, the burial region of Joshua.
Called Hurai in Chronicles
The Chronicles parallel of the same heroes-list keeps the geographic anchor exactly but spells the name differently: "Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite" (1 Chr 11:32). The matching locator confirms the two forms point to the same warrior.
