Hodevah

Hodevah is a Levite ancestor named in the register of returnees from the Babylonian exile.

A Levitical Ancestor

In the list of those who came back to Jerusalem with Zerubbabel, the Levites are counted by household: "The Levites: the sons of Jeshua, of Kadmiel, of Binnui, of Hodevah, seventy and four" (Neh 7:43). The name marks one of the four Levitical lines that survived the exile and resumed temple service in the restored community.
