Hoham

People · Updated 2026-05-07

Hoham is the Amorite king of Hebron who joined the southern coalition that opposed Joshua after the Gibeonite treaty.

King of Hebron

When Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem learned that Gibeon had made peace with Israel, he summoned a five-king alliance against the city: "Therefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, and to Piram king of Jarmuth, and to Japhia king of Lachish, and to Debir king of Eglon, saying," (Josh 10:3). Hoham appears here only by name and city — one of the four allies recruited to punish Gibeon for siding with Israel. The campaign that followed ends in the rout at Beth-horon and the capture and execution of all five kings.
