Horem

Horem is a fortified town in the territory allotted to the tribe of Naphtali in upper Galilee.

In Joshua's distribution of the land, Horem is named in the closing summary of Naphtali's inheritance: "And Iron, and Migdal-el, Horem, and Beth-anath, and Beth-shemesh; nineteen cities with their villages" (Josh 19:38). The site appears only in this list, grouped with neighboring strongholds like Migdal-el and Beth-shemesh that guarded Naphtali's northern frontier. The name itself suggests a place set apart or consecrated, fitting for a frontier fortress.
