Hotham

Hotham is named once in scripture, in the genealogy of Asher.

Son of Heber

Within the tribal record of Asher, Hotham appears as one of Heber's children: "And Heber begot Japhlet, and Shomer, and Hotham, and Shua their sister" (1Ch 7:32). His three brothers and one sister bracket the only line that places him; nothing further is recorded of his life or descendants in this passage.

A different man named Hotham also appears in scripture. The Aroerite Hotham is the father of two of David's mighty men: "Shama and Jeiel the sons of Hotham the Aroerite" (1Ch 11:44). This Hotham is identified by his town — Aroer — rather than by tribal lineage, and his connection to the Asherite of 1Ch 7:32 is nowhere indicated.
