Humtah

A Town in the Hill Country of Judah

The name is grouped with Kiriath-arba (Hebron) and Zior in Joshua's list of Judah's allotment: "and Humtah, and Kiriath-arba (the same is Hebron), and Zior; nine cities with their villages" (Jos 15:54). Humtah is one of nine settlements counted together in this stretch of the territory; the surrounding towns place it in the elevated country around Hebron.
