Huppim
Huppim is named in the Benjamite genealogies as a descendant of Benjamin, listed among the heads of households in the tribe.
In the Benjamite Lists
The list of those who came down into Egypt with Jacob includes Benjamin's sons and grandsons, with the closest parallel form of the name appearing among the sons of Bela: "And the sons of Benjamin: Bela, and Becher, and Ashbel; and the sons of Bela were: Gera and Naaman, Ehi and Rosh, and Muppim; and Gera begot Ard" (Gen 46:21). The Chronicler's later list uses the form "Huppim" directly. "Shuppim also, and Huppim, the sons of Ir; Hushim, the son of another" (1 Chr 7:12). The pairing of Huppim with Shuppim is preserved a few verses later in the genealogy of Manasseh: "And Machir took a wife of Huppim and Shuppim, whose sister's name was Maacah; and the name of the second was Zelophehad: and Zelophehad had daughters" (1 Chr 7:15). Here Huppim and Shuppim appear as the family from which Machir's wife is taken — the Benjamite house contributing into a Manassite line.
