Hushah
Hushah appears in the Judahite genealogy of 1 Chronicles 4 as a name founded by Ezer in the line of Hur, the Bethlehemite firstborn.
In the Line of Hur
The Chronicler runs a string of father-of relations through the descendants of Hur and lands here: "and Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Beth-lehem" (1 Chr 4:4). Hushah is the name Ezer founds — a settlement-name or clan-name in the Bethlehem line.
A Probable Cross-Reference
A few verses later the same chapter names another figure with a similar form: "And Chelub the brother of Shuhah begot Mehir, who was the father of Eshton" (1 Chr 4:11). Shuhah here is plausibly the same name as Hushah, with metathesis of the two consonants — a recurring pattern in the Chronicler's lists where the same family-name surfaces in slightly different spelling.
