Ibhar

Ibhar is one of the sons of David born in Jerusalem, named in three parallel lists of David's sons.

In the Lists of David's Sons

The Samuel list of those born to David in Jerusalem includes him second after the elder names of the verse: "and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia" (2 Sam 5:15). The Chronicler's first list of the same group is shorter and reads "and Ibhar, and Elishama, and Eliphelet" (1 Chr 3:6). The second Chronicles list places him at the head of the line: "and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet" (1 Chr 14:5). Ibhar's name is preserved consistently across all three rosters; he is mentioned only by name and birth-order, with no narrative attaching to him.
