Iim
The umbrella collects two distinct sites carrying this name. UPDV renders the wilderness encampment as "Iyim" (a shortened form of Iye-abarim) and the southern Judah town as "Iim".
A Wilderness Encampment
In the itinerary of Israel's journeys, Iyim is one of the late stops on the Moabite border. The camp before it is given as Iye-abarim: "And they journeyed from Oboth, and encamped in Iye-abarim, in the border of Moab" (Nu 33:44). The next stage names the same site in its short form and moves on east: "And they journeyed from Iyim, and encamped in Dibon-gad" (Nu 33:45).
A Town in Southern Judah
The Joshua boundary list places a separate Iim among the towns of the extreme south, in a brief catalogue: "Baalah, and Iim, and Ezem," (Jos 15:29). Nothing further is said of it.
