Ir-nahash
Ir-nahash appears once, in a Judahite genealogy, with no surrounding detail to settle whether the name designates a man or a town.
Father of Ir-nahash
The verse names a chain of fathers and ends with the disputed term: "And Eshton begot Beth-rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir-nahash. These are the men of Recah" (1Ch 4:12). Tehinnah is called "the father of Ir-nahash." Whether Ir-nahash is then his son's name or, as elsewhere in this genre, a town he founded or settled, the verse does not specify. The closing line — "These are the men of Recah" — sets the whole group within a wider Judahite locale without resolving the question.
