Ishbah

Ishbah appears once, in the Chronicler's genealogy of Judah.

Father of Eshtemoa

The notice falls in a sequence of births to Ezrah's line: "And the sons of Ezrah: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon; and she became pregnant with Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa" (1Ch 4:17). The name is anchored to its descendant — Ishbah is identified by what he produced, the line of Eshtemoa, a town that elsewhere belongs to the Levites in the hill country of Judah.
