Ishiah (UPDV: Isshiah) appears as the name of more than one head-of-house in the Chronicler's genealogies — once among the descendants of Issachar, and again among the Levites in the Davidic order of priestly courses.

Among the Sons of Issachar

In the Chronicler's listing of Issachar's clans, Isshiah is named as one of the five chief sons of Izrahiah: "And the sons of Uzzi: Izrahiah. And the sons of Izrahiah: Michael, and Obadiah, and Joel, Isshiah, five; all of them chief men" (1Ch 7:3). The line is explicit that all five are reckoned as heads.

Among the Levites

The same name surfaces twice in the Levitical course-list of 1Ch 24. The first is in the Rehabiah line: "Of Rehabiah: of the sons of Rehabiah, Isshiah the chief" (1Ch 24:21) — again, the chief of his branch. The second runs through Uzziel's descendants by way of Micah's brother: "The brother of Micah, Isshiah; of the sons of Isshiah, Zechariah" (1Ch 24:25). Here Isshiah is both a brother in his generation and a father in the next, his son Zechariah named after him.
