Izri
Izri is named once in scripture, in the rota of Levitical musicians appointed by David for the temple service. He leads the fourth division among the twenty-four courses of singers drawn by lot from the families of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun.
The Fourth Lot of the Singers
The list in 1 Chronicles 25 distributes the trained musicians by lot, "small and great alike, the teacher as the scholar." Izri's name surfaces at the head of the fourth course: "the fourth to Izri, his sons and his brothers, twelve" (1Ch 25:11). Like every other leader in the chapter, he stands over a unit of twelve drawn from his own household — sons and brothers serving with him in the song of the sanctuary.
