Janai

Janai is a Gadite chief listed in the genealogy at 1 Chronicles 5:12: "Joel the chief, and Shapham the second, and Janai, and Shaphat in Bashan." He appears among the leaders of the tribe of Gad who dwelt in Bashan.

The name appears only at this verse in UPDV, which uses the spelling Janai rather than the older form Jaanai. Nothing further is recorded about him beyond his position in the Gadite list.
