Jashen

Jashen appears once in the roster of David's mighty men. He is named near the end of the list, identified by his clan-affiliation as the catalogue moves through the warriors who served the king.

The list of the Thirty in 2 Samuel pairs Jashen with another warrior whose town is named: "Eliahba the Shaalbonite, Jashen the Gunite, Jonathan" (2Sa 23:32). The verse offers no exploit, only the name and the gentilic — Jashen the Gunite — placing him within a clan called Guni.
