Jasiel

Jasiel — rendered Jaasiel in UPDV — is one of the warriors named in the Chronicler's list of David's mighty men. He stands at the very close of the catalogue, identified only by name and gentilic.

Among David's Warriors

The roster of David's heroes ends with three names in a single verse: "Eliel, and Obed, and Jaasiel the Mezobaite" (1Ch 11:47). Jaasiel is the last warrior listed, his clan-marker — the Mezobaite — placing him among foreigners or border-clan men whose loyalty had been gathered into David's elite force. The verse records nothing of his deeds; the catalogue closes with his name and the place from which he came.
