Jaziz
Jaziz is named once, as the officer in charge of David's flocks. The Chronicler places him at the end of a list of stewards who oversaw the king's herds, fields, and storehouses, identifying each by domain and origin.
Over the Flocks
In the catalogue of officers managing David's property, Jaziz holds the pastoral office: "and over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite: and over the donkeys was Jehdeiah the Meronothite: and over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite" (1Ch 27:30). The verse then closes with a summarizing note: "All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David's" (1Ch 27:31). Jaziz is identified as a Hagrite — a man drawn from a clan east of the Jordan that more naturally raised sheep on the open pasture. His title in this list is purely administrative: the chief shepherd of the royal flocks, accountable to the king for their increase and protection.
