Jedidah
Jedidah is the mother of King Josiah, named once in the regnal-formula introducing his reign. The single notice anchors Josiah's accession in the southern kingdom by giving his mother's name, her father, and her town of origin. She does not act in the narrative, but the verse marks her as a known woman of Judah whose son becomes the reforming king of the late seventh century.
Mother of Josiah
The opening of Josiah's reign-summary preserves Jedidah's full identification: "Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath" (2Ki 22:1). The note ties her to a Judahite town in the Shephelah and to her father Adaiah, locating Josiah's maternal line outside the royal court itself. The verse stands as the whole record of her — wife of Amon, mother of the king who will later hear the rediscovered book of the Law and lead the reform that bears his reign's mark.
