Jekuthiel

People · Updated 2026-05-07

Jekuthiel appears once in the Judahite genealogy of 1 Chronicles, named with two brothers as the father — that is, founding ancestor — of a town in Judah.

Father of Zanoah

The verse pairs him with Jered and Heber and assigns each a settlement: "And his Jewish wife bore Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. And these are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered took" (1Ch 4:18). The "Jewish wife" stands in deliberate contrast to Bithiah the Egyptian princess named in the same verse; Jekuthiel and his brothers belong to Mered's Israelite line, while Bithiah's children form a separate group within the same household.
