Jemuel
Jemuel is the eldest of the six sons of Simeon, named at the head of the Simeonite line in two parallel registers.
Firstborn of Simeon
He stands first in the family register at the descent into Egypt: "And the sons of Simeon: Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman" (Ge 46:10). The same six names reappear at the start of the Levitical genealogy in Exodus, where the list is closed off with a clan-formula: "And the sons of Simeon: Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman; these are the families of Simeon" (Ex 6:15). His name marks the head of one of the Simeonite families, with no narrative beyond the list.
