Jeruel
Jeruel names a wilderness region south of Judah, identified once as the place where Jehoshaphat's army was directed to meet the invading coalition of Moab, Ammon, and Mount Seir.
The Wilderness Where the Battle Would Be Joined
The prophetic word given through Jahaziel marks Jeruel as the encounter-point: "Tomorrow go⁺ down against them: look, they are coming up by the ascent of Ziz; and you⁺ will find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel" (2Ch 20:16). The plural "you⁺" addresses the assembled people of Judah, sending them down by the ascent of Ziz toward the end of a valley that opens before the wilderness of Jeruel. The wilderness itself is a landmark — the region "before" which the valley terminates — locating the engagement on the southern approach to the Judean hill country.
