Jetheth
Jetheth is one of the chiefs of Edom in the genealogies of Esau — a name on the list of clan-heads, with no narrative beyond the register itself.
Chief of Edom
The Genesis register opens the list of chiefs of Esau by family and place, naming Jetheth third: "And these are the names of the chiefs who came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names: chief Timna, chief Alvah, chief Jetheth," (Ge 36:40). The Chronicler repeats the same opening triplet at the close of the Edomite kings: "And Hadad died. And the chiefs of Edom were: chief Timna, chief Aliah, chief Jetheth," (1Ch 1:51) — with "Aliah" standing in for the Genesis spelling "Alvah". The two lists fix him as one of the heads of an Edomite clan named for him.
