Jeziel
Jeziel is a Benjamite warrior, named once in 1 Chronicles among the men who came to David at Ziklag while David was still hiding from Saul.
A Benjamite at Ziklag
The Ziklag list is introduced as those "who came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men, his helpers in war" (1 Chr 12:1). The men are Saul's own kinsmen — "armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in slinging stones and in shooting arrows from the bow: they were of Saul's brothers of Benjamin" (1 Chr 12:2). Ambidextrous Benjamite archers are crossing over from Saul's tribe to David's hideout.
Jeziel is paired with his brother in the third verse: "The chief was Ahiezer; then Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite, and Jeziel, and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth, and Beracah, and Jehu the Anathothite" (1 Chr 12:3). The pairing fixes his lineage — son of Azmaveth, brother of Pelet — and his place in the company that links itself to David before David is king.
