Jidlaph
Jidlaph is named once in Genesis, in the genealogy of Abraham's brother Nahor — one of the eight sons borne to Nahor by Milcah.
A Son of Nahor and Milcah
The notice arrives just after the binding of Isaac, with news brought to Abraham about his brother's family: "Look, Milcah, she also has borne sons to your brother Nahor" (Gen 22:20). The list of eight runs through Uz, Buz, and Kemuel before reaching Jidlaph: "And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel" (Gen 22:22).
The function of the list is to set up Bethuel — "And Bethuel begot Rebekah. These eight did Milcah bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother" (Gen 22:23) — but Jidlaph is recorded among them as a member of Abraham's nearest extended family. He has no further appearance, no narrative role, no descendants traced; the genealogy simply preserves him as a nephew of Abraham, sharing the line that produced Rebekah.
