Josabad
Josabad — spelled Jozabad in UPDV — appears once in the Chronicler's roster of warriors who came to David at Ziklag.
A Gederathite at Ziklag
The setting is the muster at Ziklag while David was still keeping clear of Saul: "Now these are those who came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men, his helpers in war. They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in slinging stones and in shooting arrows from the bow: they were of Saul's brothers of Benjamin" (1Ch 12:1-2). The list that follows names the chief Ahiezer and a string of fighters drawn from Benjamin and the surrounding towns.
Within that list, Jozabad closes the fourth verse: "and Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty, and Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Jozabad the Gederathite" (1Ch 12:4). The single descriptor "the Gederathite" places him by town; the bow-and-sling profile of the verse 2 muster supplies the only further notice.
