Joshaphat
Joshaphat appears once in the text, named in the Chronicler's roll of David's mighty men.
A Mithnite Among David's Mighty Men
The Chronicler opens an extension of the warrior list at v. 26: "Also the mighty men of the armies: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lehem" (1Ch 11:26). The roster runs name after name, each tagged by patronymic or town. Joshaphat falls late in the list: "Hanan the son of Maacah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite," (1Ch 11:43). The single descriptor "the Mithnite" — a gentilic of uncertain place — is all the text supplies. Joshaphat is one of David's valiant men, identified by tribe-or-town and otherwise unrecorded.
