Jushab-Hesed

People · Updated 2026-05-07

Jushab-hesed appears once, at the close of a list of Zerubbabel's children in the Davidic genealogy of 1 Chronicles.

A Son of Zerubbabel

The Chronicler's record of the post-exilic Davidic line traces through Zerubbabel and names his sons and daughter before turning to a final cluster of five: "and Hashubah, and Ohel, and Berechiah, and Hasadiah, Jushab-hesed, five" (1Chr 3:20). Jushab-hesed stands at the end of that group of five, the last name in Zerubbabel's listed offspring. The verse offers nothing about him beyond his place in the family, but it secures him a position in the post-exilic Davidic genealogy that the Chronicler is concerned to preserve.
