Karkaa
Karkaa (rendered "Karka" in the UPDV) is a single point on the southern boundary of the tribal allotment of Judah, named once in the boundary description of Joshua 15.
A Marker on Judah's Southern Border
Joshua 15:3 traces the southern line of Judah's territory through a sequence of named points. The verse reads: "and it went out southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and went up by the south of Kadesh-barnea, and passed along by Hezron, and went up to Addar, and turned about to Karka" (Josh 15:3). Karkaa sits late in the sequence, just after Addar, as the line turns. Like the other names in this string — Akrabbim, Zin, Kadesh-barnea, Hezron, Addar — it functions as a survey landmark fixing the boundary of the tribe of Judah on its southern frontier.
