Kitron

Kitron is a city in the territorial allotment of Zebulun. It appears once in the text, in the catalogue of places where the Canaanite population persisted after the conquest.

A City Zebulun Did Not Clear

When the tribes settled the land, Zebulun's inheritance included Kitron, but the Canaanites there were not displaced. The text records the result plainly: "Zebulun did not drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became subject to slave labor" (Judg 1:30). The city is paired with Nahalol, and its inhabitants are reduced to forced labor rather than removed.
