Koa

Places · Updated 2026-05-07

Koa appears once in the text, in Ezekiel's oracle against Oholibah, where it stands among the eastern peoples summoned against her.

In the Muster Against Oholibah

The name occurs in a list of military allies and overlords from the east who will come against Jerusalem under the figure of Oholibah: "the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod and Shoa and Koa, [and] all the Assyrians with them; desirable young men, governors and rulers all of them, princes and men of renown, all of them riding on horses" (Ezek 23:23). Koa is grouped with Pekod and Shoa, and the whole roster is qualified by "all the Assyrians with them," placing the people in the orbit of Mesopotamian power.
