Machi

Machi appears once in scripture, named in the list of tribal representatives Moses sent to spy out the land of Canaan.

Father of the Gadite spy

In the roster of the twelve men chosen, one from each tribe, the entry for Gad reads: "Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi" (Nu 13:15). Machi himself does not act in the narrative; the verse identifies him only as the father of Geuel, the man chosen to represent Gad.
